Varieties

Vital and balanced selection of the grape varieties  planted in vineyards of Slovakia is represented by the most grown ones, that are characteristic for the entire Central European region, followed by varieties that were brought from more distant regions of Europe during Modern age and new crossings that were selected in the last decades.

The List of registered grape varieties (Listina registrovaných odrôd) containts among others 23 white, 10 red and 3 Tokaj grape varieties (Furmint, Lipovina and Muškát žltý) of Vitis vinifera L. (Vinič hroznorodý).

Characteristics of wines may vary according to: origin of the wine, vineyard, vintage and harvest conditions, vinification techniques, in consideration of time that lapsed since harvest and bottling, influence of storage, tempering, preparation and form of tasting, conditions of the moment, sensuality..
