Production
  In 2008, according to data of the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic, the total acreage of vineyards was decreased by 181 hectares to 15 722 hectares in comparison with the previous year. Yielding vineyards covered 63,5 % of the total vineyards area. Its harvested area was decreased by 1 857 hectares to 9 650 hectares.
  In 2008, in Slovakia it was cropped 51 617 tons of grapes, out of which 51 238 tons of must grapes (99,3 % of the total production). The grapes yield reached 5,35 tons per hectare.
  According to the Statistical Office estimation concerning production of agricultural crops as per 15 September 2009, it is expected to produce 49,0 thousand tons of grapes on the area of 9,8 thousand hectares of yielding vineyards, by the yield of 5,02 tons per hectare.
  According to the registration of vineyards carried out by the Central Agricultural Control and Test Institute, the area of vineyards covered 20 625 hectares as per 31 July 2009.

  Grapes selection - Výber z hrozna requires grapes in excelent condition. Very impressive level for dry red wines and extractive and ful whites with various proportions between alcohol and residual sugar. Made from most of the grape varieties.

  Choice of berries - Bobuľový výber is made from selected grapes. Most of the whines are sweet white, made from Traminer nad Muscat grape varieties and their crossings, although dry to sweet white and red wines from other grape varieties are produced as well.

  Straw wine - Slamové víno is sweet with various characters. Grapes are dried in self-ventilated upper parts of the wineries or on the straw mats. Produced from Veltlínske zelené, Rizling rýnsky, Rizling vlašský, Pinot biely, Pinot šedý, Chardonnay, Furmint and other Tokaj varieties, Tramín červený, Muškát Ottonel, Devín and Pálava for white wines. For red or rosé straw wines  Frankovka modrá, Cabernet Sauvignon and Svätovavrinecké.
