Južnoslovenská  - "Southern Slovak" wine region

South Slovakian wine region is situated north from river Danube. It is warmest part of Slovakia and the vineyards are planted on loess uplands, sporadically on fat, silty clay soils with good water holding, which are suitable for growing of red grape varieties. Here are the best conditions for cultivation of grapes for production of high quality red wines, also from Cabernet Sauvignon, which requires longer growth cycle as opposed to other in Slovakia grown grape varieties. Soils are brown type with sandy to silty subsoils in the bottom parts of deep soil profile, which are grading to clayey horizon. They are medium heavy to heavy-textured soils. South Slovakian wine regions belongs to continental climate zone.
Wine from South Slovakian wine region is a product obtained exclusively by total or partial  fermentation of grapes or grape must, which originates in this region. Grapes are achieving high sugar content, wines are full bodied, with intensive taste and distinctly extractive.

This region is warmest of all in Slovakia, average annual sunshine duration is 2200 hours, the sum of active air temperature during vegetation is at least 3400 ° C. higher average temperatures are contributing to production of saccharides substances in grapes, which will reflect in superior fullness of wine. Accordingly this region is optimal for growing of red grape varieties and late maturing varieties. Higher temperature allows to cultivate the grapes for production of wines at high quality and wines with attribute with average natural content of sugar around 23 °NM. Modern  technology of vine processing with controlled process of cooling during fermentation facilitates  production of wines with higher content of alcohol or residual sugar, which are creating elegant, savoury and harmonic beverage.
